If you can’t tell a Beaujolais Nouveau from a Villages then you needed to have joined The Side Room last week!
Sadly you missed the perfect opportunity to discover the difference when Elysion Events, in collaboration with Dattch, launched The Side Room members’ club for women, with an evening of Beaujolais tasting at a canalside bar in Dalston, East London.
On Thursday November 20 – to coincide with the date of the official release of this years Beaujolais Nouveau – a small gathering of wine enthusiasts joined us, and our wine expert Melanie Reeves of Wine Alive (ex senior Sommelier at Vinopolis), to find out why the French celebrate Beaujolais Nouveau Day and how this ‘new wine’ compares and contrasts with two other Beaujolais.
The atmosphere was warm, relaxed and friendly – with everyone seated around communal tables which encouraged discussion, chat and mingling – and the wine very much appreciated, as were the accompanying canapés! Mel did a fantastic job of providing the perfect balance of excellent wine choices, interesting and useful information and plenty of fun and laughs. In fact, a very lovely Thursday evening was had by all and I can safely say that no one went away without trying something different and meeting someone new.
